   This Madagascar native is similar to P. lamerei with the spiny gray trunk and white flowers, but has thicker narrower slightly fuzzy, reddish tinted leaves.

   This Pachyform has 10" long deep green strap like leaves and heavy gray spines in groups of three arranged along the entire length of the thick silvery gray trunk.  It produces large clusters of fragrant white blooms, but only when the trunk reaches a height of about three to four feet, at which point it will branch.

   This pachyform has smooth light tan bark, and hides its' short 1/2" spines behind shiny bright green 2"- 3" long leaves. It can grow quite rapidly to a height of at least three feet.  It prefers some shade and protection from frost.

   This compact variety of P. saundersii has the same shiny bright green stems and smooth light tan bark as P. saundersii, but is shorter and thicker, with more of a tendency to branch lower on the stem.
